The Produce Lady – an educational effort of the N.C. State University Plants for Human Health Institute and N.C. Cooperative Extension. Leah’s idea for The Produce Lady program resulted in a comprehensive educational outreach that she coordinated for more than five years. The program focuses on encouraging people to eat more fruits and vegetables and to buy from local farmers. It provides quick, easy, healthy tips for busy families and has garnered recognition in the national news media and throughout North Carolina. The program includes a website, more than 50 how-to videos, a monthly e-newsletter, printed materials, partnerships. Leah selected the talent for The Produce Lady (Brenda Sutton) and was responsible for securing and managing grants for this effort that provided support to a statewide local foods initiative.
